Levelcade

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before we start.

How customisation works, what you receive, what is included, and where the boundaries sit between a Levelcade reskin and fully bespoke development.

The basics

How Levelcade works.

What exactly is Levelcade?

Levelcade creates customised games for brands, agencies and individuals using proven game foundations. We keep the underlying gameplay stable and transform the characters, visual theme, branding and presentation around the client.

Do you build every game from scratch?

Usually, no. Our standard packages begin with an existing Levelcade game so the project can focus on customisation rather than rebuilding core mechanics. If your brief genuinely requires new mechanics, levels, AI or systems, we can quote that separately as bespoke development.

Can I choose which game to customise?

Yes. You can choose from the Levelcade catalogue, or tell us what you want the game to achieve and we can recommend the best fit.

What can be customised?

Depending on the package and game, this can include the main player, supporting characters, enemies or hazards, collectibles, background/environment, colours, title, logo, messaging, start/end screens and calls to action.

Business and agencies

For campaigns, brands and client work.

What is included in the £2,495 Brand Reskin?

The standard Brand Reskin starts with one existing Levelcade game and includes one client visual theme, one customised player or vehicle, up to three supporting/enemy/hazard visual types, up to two branded collectible graphics, one main environment treatment, branded UI/text, start/end screens, one CTA, one Web/WebGL build and two consolidated revision rounds.

What is not included in a standard Brand Reskin?

New gameplay mechanics, new AI behaviours, new physics, new level layouts, multiplayer, backend systems, databases, complex integrations, additional platforms, source code, exclusivity and extensive bespoke illustration/animation are outside the standard Reskin scope and are quoted separately.

Can agencies use Levelcade white-label?

Yes. We can work under NDA and white-label arrangements where appropriate. The agency retains the client relationship and can include Levelcade production within its broader campaign or project pricing.

Do agencies get partner pricing?

Qualified agencies bringing repeat or planned-volume work can access partner pricing. Rates are agreed privately according to expected volume, project type and production responsibilities.

Can a Levelcade game include a leaderboard or campaign functionality?

Yes, where required. Features such as leaderboards, competition functionality, analytics, data capture or campaign integrations sit outside the standard Brand Reskin and are normally quoted under Campaign Plus or bespoke development.

Can we use the finished game after the campaign ends?

Normally, yes. Business customers receive the agreed finished compiled build under the project licence. Any special exclusivity, resale or source-code requirements need a separate agreement.

Personal Games

For birthdays, weddings and personal gifts.

Can the supporting characters be family members rather than enemies?

Absolutely. Supporting characters can be family, friends, pets, helpers, spectators, colleagues or enemies depending on the chosen game. They do not all have to be hostile characters.

What do you need from me to create a Personal Game?

We normally need to know who the game is for, the occasion, your chosen game or preferred style, photos or visual references, the people or pets you want included, favourite places/hobbies/in-jokes, and the date you need it by.

Can I use photos of family members in the game?

Photos can be used as visual references for creating the personalised characters and theme. The final treatment depends on the selected game and its art style.

How many revisions are included?

The number of consolidated revision rounds depends on the package: one at £395, two at £695, and three at £1,195. Feedback should be supplied as one consolidated list per round.

Retro Console

Digital files, cartridges and boxed gifts.

Which Retro Console platforms do you support?

Our current Retro Console range covers Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega Mega Drive and Neo Geo. Neo Geo packages are priced at twice the equivalent standard Retro Console tier.

Which packages include a physical cartridge?

The £795, £995 and £1,295 packages include a physical playable cartridge as well as the digital game. The £495 package is digital only.

Which package includes a box and printed manual?

The £1,295 Retro Console package includes the physical cartridge, custom presentation box and printed manual. The £995 tier includes the cartridge but does not include a box or printed manual.

Are the Retro Console games official Nintendo, Sega or SNK products?

No. Levelcade products are independently developed for compatible retro hardware and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the original console manufacturers.

Ownership and delivery

What you receive — and what stays with Levelcade.

Do I receive the source code?

No. Standard Levelcade packages include the finished compiled game only. Levelcade retains ownership of the underlying base game, source code, systems and reusable technology.

Can I resell the game or base technology?

No. Standard licences do not include resale rights to the underlying game, source code or reusable Levelcade technology. If a project requires unusual licensing, exclusivity or buyout terms, these need to be agreed separately.

Who owns logos, photos and artwork supplied by the client?

You remain responsible for ensuring you have permission to provide and use any logos, photos, trademarks, characters or other third-party material supplied for the project.

How do payments work?

Standard projects normally begin with a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance due before final delivery. Larger projects may use staged milestone payments depending on scope.
